描述This book is a brief introduction to negative quantum channels, i.e., linear, trace-preserving (and consistent) quantum maps that are not completely positive. The flat and sharp operators are introduced and explained. Complete positivity is presented as a mathematical property, but it is argued that complete positivity is not a physical requirement of all quantum operations. Proposed Experimental Demonstration of Negativity,ead to non-zero negativities, but no such considerations were given to the gedanken experiments presented in the previous sections. Hence, the negativity of those example channels cannot be a product of such experimental error.

Tomography, several different things, including quantum state tomography, quantum process tomography, and quantum measurement tomography. In each case, the object being modeled is different, but the basic idea is the same.

Negative Qubit Channel Examples with Multi-Qubit Baths,scribed in the previous section. The entire system might be cooled to the ground state |0〉 〈0| except for two qubits that somehow manage to remain maximally entangled. Preparation of the reduced system in the “preparation by measurement” manner described in the previous section could then result in this sharp operation.

Complete Positivity,tor sum. We will briefly discuss the claim that complete positivity is a physical requirement of nature, and we will point out some problems with this viewpoint. This chapter will conclude with the introduction of the negativity, which will be our primary tool for identifying negative channels.
