描述On 14-16 November, 1990 the 1st Moscow International Conference on Composites was held by the USSR Academy of Sciences and the Soviet Association for Advanced Materials. Over 1200 scientists and experts from the USSR, the USA, France, Germany, Spain, Japan, PR China, Poland, Romania, Czechoslovakia and other countries took part in the conference. The conference was headed by the International Organizing Committee, consisting of B.E. Paton (USSR), I.N. Fridlyander (USSR), S.P. Efimenko (USSR), S. Dastin (USA), L. Cohen (USA), Ashok K. Dhingra (USA), J. de Bossu (France) and others. The conference plenary session was arranged at the Moscow Lomonosov State University and in the conference hall of the Kosmos Hotel. At the conference, 10 sessions were organized covering the following topics: 1. Production and properties of fibres. 2. Production and properties of matrix materials. 3. Physical chemistry in composite materials technology. 4. Structure and properties of composite materials. 5. Manufacturing technologies for polymer matrix and carbon matrix composites 6. Manufacturing technologies for metal matrix and ceramic matrix composites 7. Coatings for fibres and composites. 8. Compos

Delamination-Suppresion Concepts for Composite Laminate Free Edgese reinforcement and edge modification concepts to reduce the delamination tendency are shown to have good potential for significantly increasing both static strength and fatigue life of delamination-susceptible laminates. Such concepts also extend the useful range of acceptable stress levels in fatigue by delaying the onset of delamination.
