描述This book contains selected contributions from the 6th CIRPInternational Seminar on Computer-Aided Tolerancing, which was held on22-24 March, 1999, at the University of Twente, Enschede, TheNetherlands. .This volume presents the theory and application of consistenttolerancing. Until recently CADCAM systems did not even address theissue of tolerances and focused purely on nominal geometry. Therefore,CAD data was only of limited use for the downstream processes. Thelatest generation of CADCAM systems incorporates functionality fortolerance specification. However, the lack of consistency in existingtolerancing standards and everyday tolerancing practice still lead toill-defined products, excessive manufacturing costs and unexpectedfailures. G. K. Scadding (Consultant Rhinologist)s of a proper framework for the computation of tolerance transfer. Rules are indeed established to simulate tolerance chains or stack up which are generated according to paths or loops on the TTRS tree. Sets of equations are therefore generated and solved for each of these loop..The principles presented above, are validated on a realistic example.

R. M. Pope,M. E. Ludgate,A. M. McGregor 2D / 3D-CAT systems a conversion of GD&T tolerances into 3D-representations is necessary. Therefore, a transformation procedure for integration into CAD systems is described. An angularity and position tolerance at a plane is given as an example. The contribution closes with a brief outlook at the validation of the concept.

Estimating Position Tolerance Process Capabilitiesdetermined for all three positioning tolerance cases discussed in the paper. The procedures assume the position deviation distributions of processes are normal and the results are for the commonly used . standard deviation limits.

Root Cause Analysis for Fixtures and Locating Schemes Using Variation Data variation. The root cause of fixture failure is identified by ranking the estimated locator variation. The approach is attractive because it can deal with multiple coupled locator failures and is not limited to a 3-2-1 locating scheme, but works for an arbitrary deterministic locating scheme.
