Acoustic Emission Monitoring: A Tool for the Selection and Nondestructive Characterization of Sites technological, economical and political issue. The main scientific/technological problem concerns what set of observational methods, and their resultant geological and geophysical data, are considered valid in the context of selecting a site for a radioactive waste repository.
