Factor Regression Analysis of Natural Populations of Ryegrass to specific climatic conditions, plant breeders are looking for populations growing under similar conditions, which may have selected favourable genes. However the test of the efficiency of natural selection for the breeding objectives of Man is not obvious.

Potential for improving adaptation of , L. to continental climates in Norwayaptation at the continental location, measured as plant cover after three years. There was considerable variation between populations in all characters. In the spaced plant experiment, the Norwegian diploid breeding populations were the highest yielding. The commercial cultivars also performed well.
