The Role of the Referential (Visual) Cortex for Inferential Competence: the cognitive autonomy of inferential competence and referential competence would have to be significantly weakened. In the present chapter, contrary to this popular view, I shall argue that the involvement of referential visual (and perceptual) cortex in inferential tasks should not be overstated.
