A Method of Measuring the Peak Flow-Rate and the Regurgitant Volume of Regurgitation proposed so far grade regurgitation on the basis of geometrical features of the regurgitant jet, such as length, width, and area, or on the color variance of the jet, which is thought to be related to turbulence intensity. None of these methods grade regurgitation on the basis of the absolute issuing flow-rate or the regurgitant volume.

Analysis of Transcranial Doppler Waves: Pathophysiology of Unilateral Stenoses of the Carotid Arterylow in the Circle of Willis play an important role in the pathophysiology of vascular autoregulation in patients with CVD. Furthermore, our data suggest that the previously used classifications of CVD (degree of stenosis, clinical stage) allow neither precise description of the actual pathophysiology nor exact prognosis of CVD.

Cerebral Hemodynamic Evaluation by Means of Transcranial Doppler Sonographyficits. Two methods for cerebral hemodynamic evaluation have been recently introduced into clinical practice, the CO.-reactivity test and the acetazolamide test. Our preliminary experience with extracranial/intracranial bypass surgery for hemodynamic insufficiency is encouraging and suggests that a functional improvement can be achieved.

Modified Gorlin Equation for the Prediction of Stenotic Valve Orifice Area: An In Vitro Study on a B the pressure gradient in mmHg across the valve and C. is a discharge coefficient. Aaslid and associates [2], as well as Gabbay and colleagues [3], have recommended modifying the Gorlin formula for improving its prediction capabilities of valve orifice area.

Echocardiographic and Flow Visualization Studies of the Mechanism for Systolic Anterior Motion of th the basis of the currently accepted Venturi theory, did not produce SAM. Flow visualization studies confirmed the importance of drag forces in the maintenance of SAM as streamlines were observed to impact on the residual anterior leaflet which was interposed into ventricular outflow.
