A Study of Transport in Tonoplast Vesicles Using Spin-Labelled Probestributed, this gives the internal volume. If the probe is a membranepermeable ion, it will distribute according to the potential. If it is a weak acid or base which is permeable only in the unionized form, it will distribute according to the pH gradient across the membrane.
