To others, it suggests roles that are beyond the boundaries of academic institutions. There is a dearth of research on academic citizenship in relation to Africa. This edited volume contributes to a better understanding of the role of higher education in national development by presenting case studies and perspectives from a wide range of stakeholders, educators, and researchers in the African context. .
