This treatise considers proteins and their constituents, carbohydrates from mono- to polysaccharides, fatty acids from free acids to fat, and waxes. It becomes obvious that these organic nutrients are more than only simple fuel for the metabolism of animals; rather, their constituents have messenger and controlling function for the actual consuming individual and even for succeeding generations. This aspect will become particularly clear by putting the organisms under consideration back into their ecosystem with their interrelationships and interdependencies. Funktionelle Anatomie und Pathologiel, is open to studies. Dietary Glu and Gln improve growth, intestinal development, innate and adaptive immune responses, skeletal muscle development, ammonia removal, and the endocrine status. Evidence is increasing that Glu has, in concert with probiotics, a biomolecular regulatory potential.

,Amino Acid Function and Requirement—,-CoA, in epigenome modulations. Furthermore, several AAs appear to regulate appetite hormone and growth factor expression. The role of microRNAs (miRs) in the biomolecular action of AAs as well as potential cross-kingdom miR transfer from plants to aquatic animals has not yet been studied in depth, but they deserve future attention.

B. Christ,H. J. Jacob,R. Seifertates tolerate ?30% and occasionally even more. The tolerance of omnivorous fishes can be increased by modulating the intestinal microflora. Epigenetic modes of action are not yet comprehensively studied in aquatic animals but deserve a closer look.
