Color Spaces and Color Metrics,when a pair of lights with different spectral power distributions will match in appearance. While the cone absorptions may tell us that two lights match, without knowing the spatial pattern of absorptions we do not know much about the appearance of the lights; do they appear light, or dark? Red or green?

Pattern Masking,. is psychophysical paradigm used to study the spatiotemporal properties of the human visual system. In a typical experiment, a . stimulus is detected in the presence of a . stimulus. The presence of the masker usually reduces the visibility of the target so that the target requires a higher contrast for detection.

Introduction to Neurophysiology of the Primate Visual System,highlighting at the end some of the questions for which modeling may be useful. The information presented, while reflecting our understanding of the primate brain, comes from research in both primates (primarily Old World monkeys) and, for some processes that are likely conserved across higher taxa, other vertebrates.
