Arrangement of CO Molecules Adsorbed on Low Index Metal Surfaces : A Comparison between LEED and HREincidence unit cell and one adsorption site, allows a better interpretation of all the data. Laser simulation of LEED is used to test this interpretation and to determine molecular positions within the larger coincidence unit cells.

Desorption by Resonant Multiphoton Excitation of Internal Adsorbate Vibrations as well as linear absorption spectra are presented. Considering localized and nonlocalized excitation a model of unimolecular desorption induced by monochromatic infrared is presented and found to be in concert with first experiments. The apparatus with the ultra high vacuum cryostat developed is described briefly.

Infrared Reflection Absorption and Emission Study of Methyl Alcohol Adsorption on MoO3 Filmsorbed methoxy species. A similar band was dectected at higher frequency, 1065 cm., above room temperatures and under high exposure of gaseous methanol. The C-O bond in the latter species has some of its double bond character.

The Adsorption of Water on Ru(001): Chemisorption and Hydrogen Bonding which aggregates of water molecules form via population of a first (chemisorbed) layer and subsequent hydrogen bonded layers. At the higher temperature of adsorption, 165 K, major differences in the vibrational spectra are apparent. Possible reasons for these differences are discussed.
