Recent Fluctuations of Alpine Glaciers and Their Meteorological Causes: 1880–1980atic significance of variations in glacier length. An analysis of data derived from regular surveys carried out on seven glaciers, covering a distance of 500 km along the Alps, indicates that mass-balance fluctuations are similar over a wide area and therefore represent a sensitive high-altitude indicator of regional climate.

The Use of Long-Term River Level and Discharge Records in the Study of Climatic Variations in the Feh century, to infer climate variations over this period. The results of the investigation show how climate variations affect different months in different ways and affect low flows differently to high flows. Regional differences in the effect of climatic variations on the streamflow regime of different portions of the basin can also be recognized.
