Semiconducting monolayer TMDCs, due to the presence of a direct gap, significantly extend the?potential of low-dimensional nanomaterials for applications in nanoelectronics and nano-optoelectronics as well as flexible nano-electronics with unprecedented possibilities to control the gap by external stimuli.
