Although there have been considerableadvances in the management of renal failure by dialysis andtransplantation, there has been relatively little progress in itsprevention. This volume sets out to review current practice in thetreatment of glomerulonephritis, which is aimed both at controllingthe clinical manifestations, e.g. nephrotic syndrome, and atpreventing the progression to renal failure. .The term glomerulonephritis covers a wide range of conditions withdifferent immunological, histological and clinical features. Thisvolume therefore starts with reviews of the immunology and pathologyof different types of glomerulonephritis. This is followed by detailedconsideration of the treatment of the commoner primary and secondaryforms of the disease. There are separate chapters on specialcircumstances, such as glomerulonephritis in pregnancy or followingrenal transplantation.
