They may help to elucidate the mechanisms responsible for both dormant seeds transition to active functioning and their growth and differentiation.

Can induced autopolyploidy replace naturally occurring endopolyploidization in roots?The purpose of this work was to find out whether: 1) colchicine-induced autopolyploidy can replace the spontaneous endopolyploidization; 2) the presence of autopolyploid nuclei in the zones of root growth and differentiation changes the pattern of .H uridine incorporation into nuclei and nucleoli.

Division and differentiation during regeneration at the root apexIf cells are removed from a plant organ the remaining cells respond by forming a seal over the wound and in some cases can even regenerate the lost tissue. The cells involved in regeneration or repair first dedifferentiate their already established state and then redifferentiate along new developmental pathways [2].
