Predation and its Potential Impact on the Behavior of Microtine Rodents than autumn. The proportion of Predation losses to specialist predators was highest in the spring. Response to specialist predators may influence the behavior and dispersal characteristics of microtine rodents.

A Test of the Charnov and Finerty Hypothesis of Population Regulation in Meadow Volesidual meadow voles, ., using a radionuclide-electrophoresis technique. We did not find a consistently high level of relatedness among adult residents at low density nor did we find a consistent reduction in relatedness among neighbors as density increased. These results do not support the Charnov and Finerty hypothesis.

Spatial and Temporal Organization of Populations of the Bank Vole, ,d males 51 minutes per active phase. There was no significant seasonal variation in duration of activity. The home ranges of bank voles are made up of refuges, feeding places, and travel routes. Sizes of home ranges vary seasonally and with reproductive condition of females during the breeding season.

Kin Recognition and Social Behavior in Microtine Rodentsgnize unfamiliar close relatives. Consequently, the ability to recognize kin may be limited to individuals that are philopatric or have repeated contacts with close relatives. Therefore, the ability to recognize kin may be dependent on the mating system, social organization, and habitat of a particular species.
