,‘The Uttermost Parts of Their Maps’: Frontiers of Gender,such material sheds light on the Greek and Roman character. Likewise, I propose that Amazons provide a worthwhile point of departure for a study of cross-cultural encounters in Shakespeare. Through these figures, Shakespeare takes us to the frontiers of culture and gender and introduces cultural difference as a form of gender difference.
