Geographical factors,Monsoon brings warm moist air across Southeast Asia. The surface temperature of the land is higher than that of the arriving air mass. The result is thunderstorm formation. Rainfall is intense but of short duration, accompanied by much lightning and high winds.

Flora and fauna,s in water depth. The zero level is the lowest spot in the rice field. The irrigation ditch that was dug through the rice field had a depth of approximately 20 cm below the zero reference, hence when the water level lay below zero, there was still water in the ditch.

The rice field under investigation,The rice field selected for the study is located on the west side of Highway 2 (Bangkok-Nong Khai), 3.3 km north of the Udorn Thani City Center, Changwat (Province) Udorn Thani, Thailand (17° 26′ 44″ N; 102° 47′ 36″ E). Its elevation is about 171 m above mean sea level (USATC, 1967).

The rice field as a man-made habitat,From the results of this study, it is obvious that the rice field of monsoonal Southeast Asia is part of a distinct kind of ecosystem, with no counterpart in temperate or arctic regions. It is also rather different from rice fields influenced by equatorial climates.
