Basic Science of the Shoulder Ligamentsder joints are supported by numerous ligaments, which contribute to the strength and stability of the system. Knowledge of the material and structural properties of the shoulder ligaments is important in understanding shoulder function and in determining approaches to develop improved methods for repair and reconstruction of injured shoulders.
