Mean-Field Theory of Photo-Induced Structural Phase Transitionsupling between the local distortions plays a crucial role in inducing threshold behaviors to bring about the nonlinearity inhered in the system. Dependence of the switching dynamics on optical pumping and temperature is clarified, and the time-resolved emission spectra are also calculated with this model.

Lattice Relaxations Yielding Nonlinear Excitations in Photo-Excited MX Chains. Then we focus on several typical cases and show potential surfaces to illustrate how the relaxation proceeds to the destination. Lastly, we compare the calculated absorption spectra with those found in the measurements of photoinduced absorption and discuss their origins.

Spectroscopic Study of a 3d Peierls Insulator in BaBiO3normous density of states which contributes to transport phenomena In BaPb.Bi.O., the deduced indirect gap energy once increases and then decreases with the Pb substitution, indicating formation of the Pb 6s band above the band gap with increasing the band width to merge into the lower Bi-6s band at the metal insulator transition.
