Absolute Calibration of AVHRR Channels 1 and 2,els based on observation of oceans and deep thick clouds is presented, along with sensitivity tests on the possible error sources. Calibration results obtained by this method for NOAA– 7, –9 and –11 from 1981 to the present are also included, as is a comparison of the derived NOAA-9 values with other recently published ones.
