Suture Technique in Microvascular SurgeryMicrovascular suturing has now become routine, being performed in countless centres for microvascular surgery throughout the entire world with individual modifications to certain details. The following section deals with the authors’ particular technique for microvascular suture in the rat aorta; modifications and their sources will be mentioned.

Complications of Microvascular Suturered dilated distal vessel segment with pulsating arteries and fresh bleeding distal to the suture sites is indicative of a patent anastomosis. A thrombus can sometimes be felt by quite gentle palpation and stretching of the anastomosis with micro-forceps. Occasionally, fully unfolding the lumen may indicate patency of the anastomosis.
