Unique Positive FM-AM Decomposition of Signals,An analytic signal, observed over an interval of . seconds, is decomposed into a Minimum Phase (AM) and an All-Phase (FM) signal. The former’s log-envelope and phase form a Hilbert transform pair while the latter has positive definite instantaneous frequency (IF). An AM-FM demodulator algorithm to achieve the above decomposition is proposed.

Do Bounded Signals Have Bounded Amplitudes?,e many methods available for determining the AM and FM of a signal, some yield an unbounded AM for some magnitude-bounded signals (including the analytic signal method). The consequences of requiring a bounded AM given a bounded signal on the method used to determine the AM and FM are examined.

Optimal Reconstruction of Natural Images by Small Sets of Gabor Filters,optimal reconstruction are examined. At first, the search is performed on a 1-D signal which satisfies the radial spectrum of the average of natural images. Later, these results are extended and applied to a 2-D example. It is shown that the resulting parameters are better than those of some existing models.
