Framework For Qualitative Motion Understanding,practical applications, however, the environment cannot be considered completely static but may contain other moving objects, such as humans, birds, cars, machines, etc. Even the movements of trees on a windy day or the changing position of the sun would violate the static assumption.

The Qualitative Scene Model,ct recognition system may describe the scene simply as a list of labeled image regions. For a geometric reasoning system, the world may consist of straight line segments, blocks, etc., and the geometrical relations between them.

Examples, The first experiment was performed with an animated image sequence in order to have the ground truth and the vehicle motion parameters available. This setup was used to develop and debug the reasoning mechanism. The second example shows the results from a real image sequence taken from the moving ALV.
