Oxygen Dependent Quenching of Phosphorescence a series of Pd-porphyrins. These probes provide a good measure of oxygen, but the excitation light needed to be in the part of the spectrum which is strongly absorbed by pigments in tissue and this restricted oxygen measurements to the surface about 1 mm of tissue.

Plasma Mixing is Likely to Affect Capillary Oxygen Transport in Hard Working Rat Heartnear the upstream RBC. However, in a previous model (Bos et al., in press) we showed that the results of their study were influenced considerably by their choice of boundary conditions. In fact, one could easily show a 50% increase of the oxygen flux through the plasma to the tissue by altering the boundary conditions.

Effect of Optode Separation on Brain Penetration in Adults detected by NIRS and is unaffected in changes in oxygenation. This study investigates the amount of cerebral tissue seen by NIR at different optode separations using indocyanine green as a specific indicator of flow during selective clamping of the carotid arteries.

Therefore we investigated in the present study whether near-infrared (NIR) detection at two wavelengths provides a way to conveniently determine myoglobin oxygenation in an isolated organ as small as the saline-perfused rat heart.
