Copper Catalyzed Oxidative Carbonylation of Methanol to Dimethyl Carbonatefound to proceed via sintering and the replacement of chloride ligands by hydroxide. Regeneration may be accomplished by treatment with hydrochloric acid which restores the chloride content of the copper.

Methane Oxidation at Metal Oxide SurfacesResearch on catalytic oxidation has been directed mainly toward the development of processes which will produce either oxygenates (methanol and formaldehyde) or coupling products (ethane and ethylene).
