Prospects for the Conventional Passenger/Car Ferry in the Aegeanatter ships still exist, but their numbers are steadily declining. Having lost a significant share of their market to ferries on long-haul routes, these ships seem to be losing the battle on shorter routes too (their main theater of operation today), this time to high-speed vessels, such as hydrofoils, catamarans, surface effect ships, etc.
