The Role of Biofilms and the Microbiomefilms are helpful to the primary organism (i.e., human), then it is considered part of the microbiome. Broad-spectrum antibiotics disrupt the microbiome’s homeostasis, with negative consequences. While antibiotics are ineffective, combination therapies in addition to debridement may be promising at treating biofilms.
