I also cite the origins of the Direct Action Working Group (DAWG), its role in park defense, and how it approached doing marches as part of an outreach strategy. I detail my own experience in the streets, encounters with police, and time in jail.

Gender in OWS,on the formation of the Safer Spaces Committee (SSC), and their work to address harm and conflict in a transformative way. I show how they made some changes to the culture of OWS, such as the creation of a safe space tent, but also how they were unable to pass universal community agreements.
