As for the kidney alterations, they vary depending on the specific type of reported renal affectation, including proteinuria, hematuria, acute kidney injury, and its combination. COVID-19 induced cytokines storm is a paradigmatic example of pathogenic crosstalk among different body organs, particularly between the lung and the kidneys.
