Dispersion of the Elasto-Optic Constants of Potassium Halidessurements, the individual elasto-optic constants have been determined. The observed dispersion of the elasto-optic coefficients in the spectral region 366 – 589 nm, is attributed mainly to the electronic contribution to the elasto-optic effect.

Projection

Cumulant Methods in the Theory of Multiphonon Absorptionumulant yields poor results. On the other hand, the use of anharmonic correlators is shown to provide good agreement with exact behavior after several terms in the cumulant have been included. Overall, the results suggest that cumulant methods are highly promising for calculating multi-phonon absorption coefficients.

Multiphonon Absorption in KCl, NaCl, and ZnSesible a more complete comparison between theory and experiment. The results indicate that both an elementary Bose-Einstein treatment and current multiphonon theories are in reasonable agreement with experimental data.
