Optical Crystallographyce when dawn and dusk mix colors in the sky. Minerals lose much of their colors when thin sections are made. However, using concepts put forward in this chapter we can add colors in such a way to various minerals that is aesthetically pleasing, but, also, allows us to identify minerals easily.

Phyllosilicates this oxygen may be shared with the tetrahedra. This combination is known as t-o sheet. This may be linked to other layers along z-direction. The manners of stacking of these layers are numerous giving rise to a large number of phyllosilicate species.

Inosilicatesin pairs by bridging the third oxygens (double chains) then the minerals are called the amphiboles. The fourth group is known as bipyriboles where the unit cell structure is a combination of structures of pyroxenes, amphiboles, and sheet silicates.
