Diffractive Read-Out of Optical Discstems. In Section 4.2 of this chapter we first present a short historic overview of the research on optical disc systems that has led to the former video disc system. In Section 4.3 we briefly review the general principles of optical storage systems that have remained more or less unchanged since the start some thirty years ago.

Optical Coherence Tomographyesolution without the need for excision of a specimen or for tissue rocessing. OCT is analogous to ultrasound B-mode imaging except that it uses lowcoherence light rather than high-frequency sound and performs imaging by measuring the backscattered intensity of light from structures in tissue.
