The Astronomical CCD Development Program at Copenhagen Universityparallel channels. The PC/MC68020 based controller performs in all essential respects on a par with other systems currently in use at major observatories worldwide. The deployment and planned upgrades of the system are briefly described.

ESO’s Plan for Optical Detectors total of 15 new systems with 35 CCDs are to be implemented through 1999. This article presents ESO’s plans for fulfilling these needs, with focus on the three main technologies of CCD systems: (i) scientific quality CCDs with new generation amplifiers, (ii) high speed CCD controllers, and (iii) long hold time cryostats.

ESO’s New CCD Testbenchmodate the new large CCDs and to interface to the new FIERA controller, ESO is building a new CCD testing facility in Garching. Among the measurements that will be made with this new facility are: quantum efficiency, conversion factor, charge transfer efficiency, dark current, read out noise and cosmetic quality.

Large-Area Back-Illuminated CCD Imager Developmentnd for the demonstration of a CCD that is capable of charge transfer in all four directions. We expect the latter to find application as an electronic means of performing tip-tilt correction to compensate for atmospheric turbulence.
