Herwart Opitz,Wilfried K?nig,Ulrich Degenhardt,Wolf-Rüdiger Depiereux,Klaus Essele resources and increased environmental degradation, i.e. a type of development which can not be sustained. Thus, it is essential to identify the environmental consequences of trade liberalization. This is a quite demanding task.

As EKC hypothesis is, in essence, about finding and testing the significance of a threshold, this technique is a perfect match for testing it. We start with a general introduction on EKC hypothesis.
