Coupling of Fluid Film Lubrication and Plastic Deformation: Finite Element Approach of Plastohydrodyfinite difference schemes have been tested to solve the lubricant conservation equation, and their stability and precision is discussed. Numerical results are compared quantitatively with analytical solution (for the case of homogeneous deformation) or qualitatively with experimental results.

An Analysis of Dynamic Crack Propagation in A Rail Web with Longitudinal Residual Stressessses can give rise to crack driving forces that are sufficient to maintain a long-running web fracture. These results are quantitatively consistent with the absence of long-running dynamic crack propagation events in standard rail and with the actual occurrence of a fracture event in a premium alloy rail.

A Consistent Finite Element Formulation of Nonlinear Frictional Contact Problemsnt stiffness and residual are derived from variational equations by using a . procedure for both the sliding and adhesion phases. The consistent tangent operator is . non- symmetric for the case of frictional sliding owing to the nature of the Coulomb’s friction law employed.

Finite- Element-analysis and Algorithms for Large Elastic Strainsguration. Isoparametric 8-node 3-D elements are most efficient for the numerical process and used for the following examples such as a bar, tensioned to nearly the double length and compressed to nearly the half length. Both examples were calculated in one increment with 4, respective 6 iteration steps.
