The Landau-De Gennes Theory of Liquid Crystals,ly difficult task. As we have seen in chapter 3 the molecular field approximation allows us to make some progress in a logical manner for rigid particles while for real mesogenic molecules the effect of non-rigidity can be included only in a semi-intuitive manner.

Discotic Liquid Crystals and their Characterization by Deuterium NMR,ymmetry. Finally the experimental results are discussed under the following subheadings: (a) uniaxial phases, (b) biaxial phases, (c) NMR of probe molecules, and (d) diffusion measurements. The presentation follows very closely and sometimes overlaps the discussion in the review article recently published in the Israel Journal of Chemistry (1).
