The , Society Program,ning and loans were available to expand the cultivated area of the nation. But not until 1920 did the state participate directly in the process. Instead it had granted funds for settling operations to one nationwide private agency, to 10 county agricultural societies, and to a few communes.

The State , (Homesteading) Program,The state’s direct support of homesteading began in 1920. At that time the Norwegian . (Parliament) passed new regulations concerning reclamation and homesteading. These went into effect in 1921 and they were one of the major means by which food production was increased, young people were given a place in agriculture, and farm sizes were expanded.
