Admissibility of Solutions to the Riemann Problem for Systems of Mixed Type,alized entropy inequalities. This includes the case of mixed-type shocks (elliptic-hyperbolic). The admissibility condition of transonic small disturbance theory is shown to arise from an additional conservation law different from the one used in the case of the classical .-system in isentropic gas dynamics.

Numerical Simulation of Inertial Viscoelastic Flow with Change of Type, of the flow of a Maxwell fluid around a circular cylinder for various flow regimes. We compare creeping flows, Newtonian flows and supercritical viscoelastic flows. We show that the flow kinematics is affected by supercritical flow conditions. In particular, a vorticity shock forms ahead of the cylindrical body.
