Pressure and heat flux measurements at the surface of an asymmetric cone at Mach number 4.6 in ISL’so create a cone asymmetry. With these models differential interferometry flow visualisations, surface pressure and heat transfer measurements were performed at Mach number 4.6 and 7 km altitude atmospheric conditions at the ISL’s shock tunnel STB to examine the resulting flow around the asymmetric cone model.

Control of Flow around Bluff Bodies by Passive Wake Ventilation numbers, reaching up to 66% for spheres. High drag reductions were also found for elongated bluff bodies at angle of incidence 5 deg and 10 deg. At zero angle of incidence the ventilation effect decreases with increasing fineness ratio. Pitching moment was enhanced by wake ventilation.

Numerical Investigation of the Flow Around Different Slat Tracks on a Swept High Lift Wing Segment For the aircraft track only a minor lift change is found, but also a 20% drag increase. Based on the outcome of the present investigations, the major impact on the lift is caused by the downstream shift of the stagnation line in the vicinity of the junction of the model track and the fixed wing.
