Pulse-Synthesis and Pulse-Adaptation in Ultrasonic Imaging for NDTin acoustic imaging systems. Optimum short pulses can be created in the frequency domain as well as in the time domain by matching synthesized input signals to the imaging system. Furthermore, adaptation of synthetic signals to special reflectors is possible.

An Ultrasonic Phased Array System for Defect Classification and Reconstructiony sector and compound scanning are described. The reconstruction methods are characterized by high redundancy, high detectability and rapidity. Recording only the intensity maxima of the image spots, the reconstruction is, to a large extent, independent of beam width and system sensitivity.
