描述Neutron spin echo (NSE) spectroscopy is the highest energy resolution neutron scattering technique available for examining a large area (in time and space) in condensed matter physics. This broad dynamic and spatial range is extensively exploited in the study of a wide range of scientific problems ranging from the dynamics of glasses, polymer melts, complex fluids and microemulsions to the elementary excitations in superfluid .4.He and to ferromagnets and spin glasses. This book reviews the current status and future prospects in NSE spectroscopy describing the method, latest instrumentation and also the use of NSE in fundamental, hard- and soft-matter science. It?provides first-hand information for researchers working in the fields touched by NSE. In addition, young researchers, PhD students and graduates interested in the method will obtain a comprehensive overview and guidelines to implementing the NSE technique.

Compact Neutron Spin Echo Device with Foil Spin Flippersgnetized by a precession field. This CNSE, considered as an option for neutron instruments, has been tested being “grafted” to a polarized neutron diffractometer. The results obtained for confined water dynamics are discussed.

Modified Neutron Spin Echo with Spectrum Modulation: Specific Feature and Applications nuclear scattering (coherent and incoherent) from magnetic one. There were used novel elements of polarized neutron handling: hard magnetised ./2-flippers, wide-angle precession magnets and analysers. The results of recent studies of magnetic flux dynamics in YBa.Cu.O. ceramics below .. are discussed.

Neutron Spin Echo Spectrometer at B.A.R.C. TrombayA neutron spin echo spectrometer has been designed, fabricated and installed at one of the cold neutron guides at the Dhruva reactor at B.A.R.C. Trombay. The spectrometer can be used for the study of stochastic relaxation dynamics of intermediate size molecules (about 1 nm) involving relaxation times of up to 1 ns.
