Interaction of Enkephalin with Opioid Receptors of Brain Membranes: Regulation by Essential TransitiGuanine nucleotides [guanosine-5′-triphosphate: GTP, and guanylyl-5′-imidophosphate: Gpp(NH)p] play an important role in regulating β-noradrenergic (1), α-noradrenergic (2), dopamine (3) and other neurotransmitter receptors. Guanine nucleotides also decrease the receptor binding of tritiated opiate agonists but not that of the antagonists (1,4–6).

Differential Regulation of Putative M1/M2 Muscarinic Receptors: Implications for Different Receptor-t binding site subtypes. The data are presented in conjunction with other evidence for muscarinic receptor subtypes and a significant portion of the discussion emphasizes the potential involvement of distinct receptor-effector coupling mechanisms for these subtypes. Factors Regulating Ligand Binding to 5-Hydroxytryptamine Receptors in Rat Braintors which modify 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) binding properties. Recently, in the course of 5-HT binding studies, it was found that ascorbic acid (AA), Mn., and HCO. could modify ligand binding to central 5-HT receptors in rat.

Role of Hormone-Sensitive GTPases in Adenylate Cylase Regulation. Both types of hormones, adenylate cyclase stimulatory and inhibitory, have been shown to stimulate GTPase(s) in membrane preparations. In this review, the role of this hormone-stimulated GTP hydrolysis in the bidirectional regulation of adenylate cyclase will be considered.

Modulation of Neuroreceptor Functions by Lipomodulin, a Phospholipase Inhibitory Proteine isolated this protein from neutrophils treated with glucocorticoids and examined its effects on receptor functions and on neural development. We found that lipomodulin can regulate functions of certain types of receptors and differentiate neuronal cells to the adrenergic phenotype.

He spent his first academic years as a research associate (1952 - 1968) at the Third Department of Internal Medi- cine, Tokyo University School of Medicine.
