As principal investigators working in the field of nanomedicine, we sought to put together the most current and relevant topics in gene delivery, imaging and evaluation systems. We expect the work to serve very well for scientists and graduate students in the nanomedicine field.

Specific Systems for Imaging,ence microscopy (Sect. .), particle tracking and photoactivated localization microscopy (Sect. .), quantum dots and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (Sect. .), and cellular MRI and PET labeling (Sect. .). The functionality, as well as the current and recommended usage of each given imaging system, will be discussed.

Introduction,Gene therapy is the delivery of nucleic acid for the expression of a therapeutic product in order to treat diseases on a genetic level. This is especially well suited for diseases that involve missing, defective, or overexpressing genes.
