描述 | Adverse environmental factors can impose stress on plants andinfluence the expression of the full genetic potential for growth andreproduction. The capability of plants to develop plastic responsereactions, to adapt to environmental stress situations, is unique inthe biological world. A goal of the research described in this volumeis to increase crop productivity, particular in regions where theenvironment imposes stress. An understanding of the principlesinvolved in plant adaptation to environmental stress will enableoptimisation of practices to improve agronomic production and minimisedamaging environmental impact. The aim of this volume is to link therapidly advancing and increasingly specialist field of molecularbiology with plant physiology at the ecosystem level. The bookincludes chapters focused on some principle methods and a series ofup-to-date review chapters on plant adaptation to a variety ofspecific stresses. The utilisation of newly available genomeinformation is emphasised. Of particular importance is the desire tohighlight the current potential of such approaches, and how diversedisciplines can interact and complement one another. The book is aimedat both the specia |
