描述.Models, Methods, Concepts and Applications of the AnalyticHierarchy. .Process. is a volume dedicated to selectedapplications of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) focused on threethemes: economics, the social sciences, and the linking of measurementwith human values. (1) The AHP offers economists a substantiallydifferent approach to dealing with economic problems through ratioscales. The main mathematical models on which economics has based itsquantitative thinking up to now are utility theory, which usesinterval scales, and linear programming. We hope that the variety ofexamples included here can perhaps stimulate researchers in economicsto try applying this new approach. (2) The second theme is concernedwith the social sciences. The AHP offers psychologists and politicalscientists the methodology to quantify and derive measurements forintangibles. We hope that the examples included in this book willencourage them to examine the methods of AHP in terms of the problemsthey seek to solve.
