Microbial Lactone Synthesis Based on Renewable Resources,olism and analyzing the hurdles in view of process development. Prominent examples are the synthesis of γ-decalactone using fungal strains, the Baeyer–Villiger oxidation using recombinant whole cells, and the γ-valerolactone synthesis.
