Extraction of small seismic signal by state space modeling,arying innovation variance of the seismic signal model is crucial. In this article, two methods based on the piecewise modeling and the self-organizing state space modeling are shown. To illustrate the method, the results of the analysis of the foreshock of Urakawa-Oki earthquake were shown.

Automatic hypocenter location at times of extremely high seismic activity,nts to be in a small area. The application of swarm mode to waveform data at a huge seismicity after the 1996 Onikobe earthquake sequence showed that the new system is very effective and can determine more precise hypocenters rather than manual pickings.
