A Penning Trap for Studying Cluster Ions, for the .Rb/.K mass ratio were obtained. An efficiency for in-flight capture as high as 70% was achieved. The method provides very high sensitivity since typically only 10 to 100 ions are stored in the trap. We intend to perform laser spectroscopy on trapped Na clusters as a first application of the trap technique.

Compound Clusters,ut still large enough to contain several structural building blocks. Periodic patterns in cluster mass spectra often allow these building blocks to be uniquely identified. Of particular interest is the identification of building blocks unknown in the crystalline state.

Analysis of the Reactivity of Small Cobalt Clusters,hermore, the magnetic moments are somewhat smaller for these active clusters. In addition the lowest unoccupied levels of majority spin appear close to the highest occupied levels of minority spin which is not the case for the inert clusters.
